John Wharton

Biography

As a senior vice president in the Knoxville office, John leads project management as well as business development to support the growth of GS&P’s Industrial market in eastern Tennessee, northern Georgia and the Carolinas. His passion is helping clients capitalize on opportunities in the manufacturing sector and working with local economic development groups to attract new business. John brings more than 30 years of experience in strategic account management and project management for clients in a wide variety of industries including aluminum, steel, and food manufacturing. John has managed multi-million-dollar projects in Russia, China, Tennessee, Alabama, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Michigan. His broad, cross-sector engineering and project management knowledge, coupled with his leadership capabilities, helps him deliver great solutions that are on-time and on-budget. John is active with the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), having previously served as the president of the East Tennessee chapter. He is a graduate of Leadership Oak Ridge and Leadership East Tennessee. He also served on the Board of Directors for the East Tennessee Economic Council and was a chancellor’s associate of the University of Tennessee.
