Biography
As a senior vice president and principal, Ken has more than 35 years of experience evaluating the performance of both conventional and advanced water and wastewater treatment processes for facilities located in the United States, England, Canada, and Puerto Rico. He has also been involved in the assessment and implementation of best management practices for water utilities including the development of rate case analyses as required by systems governed by public service commissions. Ken is one of GS&P’s Practice Area Leaders for facility operations and maintenance and GS&P’s resident expert in water and wastewater treatment processes, biosolids and residuals management, and regulatory compliance. His years of experience in engineering, operations and project management includes being a former division director with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, where he gained personal knowledge of the internal workings of the primary water-regulating body in Tennessee and was involved in the development and implementation of the nation’s first of State Revolving Fund program, the promulgation of new rules, operator training, and updating Tennessee’s wastewater design criteria. He has performed operational assessments and developed optimization plans for numerous water and wastewater treatment facilities for one of the largest water operating companies in the United States. Ken, a Past President of the Kentucky-Tennessee Water Environment Association and current member of WEF’s Plant Operations Committee, holds a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
