Timothy O’brien

Biography

For more than 15 years, Tim has designed and evaluated municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment systems. He is recognized for his knowledge in treatment technology, process evaluation and design, aerobic biological treatment optimization, dewatering systems evaluation and water reuse. As GS&P’s Disinfection/Advanced Oxidation Process Practice Area Leader, Tim has managed design teams for water and wastewater disinfection systems including sodium hypochlorite bulk and on-site generation and ultraviolet irradiation. He has also managed large, complex construction contracts, multi­discipline engineering design and evaluation projects and provided operations assistance as interim plant manager of a 10-mgd wastewater treatment plant. Tim was recently a task manager responsible for the management and development of a comprehensive 50-year wastewater management plan for the City of Atlanta’s wastewater facilities, including treatment and collection systems asset management Tim is a registered professional engineer in Georgia and HAZWOPER Certified. He is an active member of numerous professional organizations including the American Water Works Association, Water Environment Federation, and Georgia Association of Water Professionals – where he is involved with the Wastewater Treatment Committee and the Residuals Recycling and Reuse Committee.
