Biography
Billy, a Savannah native and alumnus of Benedictine Military School, graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. When asked about his career choice, Griffin responded that he was encouraged by his father to “choose a profession that you can be proud of.” He worked the first fifteen years of his accounting career in a smaller Savannah public accounting firm. His public accounting career took an unexpected detour in 2000 when he was called to join Calvary in Savannah as their CFO. In 2006 the opportunity arose to join Hancock, Askew & Co., LLP and Billy knew that it was a chance he could not pass up. When asked why Billy replies, “Hancock Askew is the premier accounting firm in Savannah and South East Georgia, the firm has a great team atmosphere and a well-deserved reputation for professionalism and quality work, I knew this was where I wanted to be when I moved back to public accounting.” Billy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
