Biography
Rebecca Barbour’s career as an attorney is a perfect fit. She has always been drawn to advocacy according to our laws and judiciary opinions, and she considers herself a lifelong learner who appreciates the educational opportunities that go along with practicing law. “I always enjoyed being a student, and practicing law as a heavy academic aspect in that you are constantly learning and staying current on new developments in the law,” she says. “I also enjoy the challenges that practicing law presents when it comes to analyzing legal issues. I believe the more accessible and relatable you are as an attorney, the better advocate you will be for your clients.” Rebecca practices in the firm’s workers compensation area in the Wilmington office. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from North Carolina State University and earned her Juris Doctor degree from Campbell University School of Law, graduating cum laude from both institutions. In addition to an internship at a law firm, Rebecca interned with the Department of Justice Criminal Appellate section and clerked for North Carolina Court of Appeals Judge Robert C. Hunter. She was articles editor for the Law Review at Campbell and participated on Campbell Law Moot Court. As a teenager, Rebecca learned the value of giving back through volunteer service with the Miracle League and the Boys and Girls Club. She went on mission trips including a trip to Belize to help build orphanages and to Mississippi to repair homes damaged during Hurricane Katrina. Born and raised in Garner, N.C., Rebecca maintains close family ties. She and her husband grew up together, and although they didn’t start dating until they had graduated from high school, they have known each other since the third grade. The two of them love traveling to new places, hiking and spending time at the beach with their three dogs. They recently took up paddle boarding and enjoy participating in all the outdoor activities that Wilmington has to offer
