Biography
As a child in New Jersey, Dr. Jeffrey Giles grew up with both a cat and a dog. When the dog, a golden retriever, was hit by a car, the young Dr. Giles was at the veterinary office while it was treated and saved. This experience proved to be a very powerful one for him and sparked his interest in becoming a veterinarian. He earned his bachelor's degree in biology from Swarthmore College in 1985 and later earned his Veterinary Degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. He then did a one year internship at the MSPCA in Springfield, MA. Dr. Giles proceeded to co-found Highland Animal Hospital in 1995. "Observing the human/animal bond always warms my heart as I watch people care for and comfort their pets," he says. Dr. Giles' professional interests include internal medicine, surgery, exotic pet care (pocket pets, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets), avian medicine and cold laser therapy. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association. At home, Dr. Giles enjoys the company of his three dogs- a pug, a French bulldog, and a golden retriever. When not working, he likes to ski, garden, cook and walk his dogs.
