Sumant Ramachandra

Biography

 Dr. Sumant Ramachandra, M.D., Ph.D., served as President of Research and Development at Synta Pharmaceuticals Corp. since March 08, 2013 Until may 05, 2013. Dr. Ramachandra serves as the project leader at key oncology products at SPRI and has responsibility for all aspects of these projects. Dr. Ramachandra has been Chief Scientific Officer and Senior Vice President of Hospira Inc. since May 17, 2013. He served as the Chief Scientific Officer of Hospira Inc. from June 2008 to March 8, 2013 and served as its Senior Vice President of Research & Development and Medical Affairs from 2008 to March 8, 2013. Dr. Ramachandra served as Senior Vice President of R&D, Medical & Regulatory of Hospira Inc. since June 2008. Prior to joining Hospira in 2008, Dr. Ramachandra was Vice President and oncology portfolio therapeutic area leader at Merck & Co. (formerly Schering-Plough), and prior to Merck/Schering-Plough he was therapeutic area head for medical oncology at Pfizer (formerly Pharmacia). At these companies, Dr. Ramachandra drove the development, regulatory approval, and market expansion studies for numerous oncology products. He served as a Vice President of Global Project Management at Schering-Plough Research Institute(SPRI) of Schering-Plough Corp. since June 2005. He served as a Group Leader of US Medical Oncology Therapeutic Area of Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals. He led the integration of Pharmacia Oncology into Pfizer and helped build and oversaw its oncology teams
