Biography

Benjamin Maughan MD, PharmD is an Instructor in the Division of Medical Oncology at Huntsman Cancer Institute specializing in genitourinary malignancies. Dr. Maughan completed his PharmD, cum laude, from Idaho State University in 2004, then completed an oncology pharmacy residency at Mountain States Tumor Institute in 2005. Dr. Maughan earned his MD, cum laude, from the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine in 2010. He finished his Internal Medicine residency training with the University of Utah in 2013 and subsequently completed his medical oncology fellowship at Johns Hopkins in 2016. Dr. Maughan has clinical and research interests in all genitourinary oncology. He recently has been focused on metastatic prostate cancer specifically studying the role of resistance pathways including expression of truncated androgen receptors (ex. AR-V7 expression) and loss of tumor suppressors such as PTEN and Rb. Additionally, he has been focused on studying the relative efficacy of different treatments in prostate cancer to identify optimal treatment sequences for this disease.
