Dorfman, Carolyn

Biography

Carolyn Dorfman received a BA in Biology from University of Colorado and a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University. Her PhD is in Adult Education from Capella University. Dr. Dorfman served as a faculty member in the Occupational Therapy Department at the College of St Scholastica in Duluth, MN for 18 years. She began teaching at Husson University in the Fall of 2012. Dr. Dorfman’s clinical specialty is neuro-rehabilitation, vision, and orthopedics. Dr. Dorfman teaches the neuroscience course, physical disabilities courses, an advanced neurorehabilitation course and research. In 2014 she received the William BeardsleyTeaching Award for excellence in teaching. She is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in vision rehabilitation. Dr. Dorfman has been involved in research regarding teaching methods for occupational therapy, interprofessional work, service learning, handwriting, and memory. More recently she has studied college student sleep patterns and the impact on performance of student occupations. She is also investigating grip strength and perceived ADL performance in older adults.
