Martin, Dewey

Biography

With a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and a Masters Degree in Taxation, Dewey is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). He has worked for two of the largest accounting firms in the world, most recently as a manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Boston. He is currently the sole owner of a public accounting practice with many small business and personal clients. Dewey has been on the full-time faculty at Husson for 36 years and has loved every minute in the classroom. He is a member of many professional organizations and has been recognized as the Accountant Advocate of the year for Maine and New England by the Small Business Administration. In addition, the Maine Society of CPAs presented him with their Public Service Award and Hampden Business Association named him the Businessperson of the Year. He is also Past-President of the Maine Society of CPA’s and a long term member of the Guardian Advisory Council for Maine in the National Federation of Independent Business. Dewey has testified before the Senate Finance Committee and House Ways and Means Committee in Washington, DC on small business tax reform.

Research Interest

I consider myself to be a guide as students work through difficult new knowledge. As they mature, I am blessed to be in their environment at the inception of their professional lives and to help them grow in the business world around them. I challenge them every day to do better and they do the same for me. My goal is for them to think critically, solve intricate problems, communicate their knowledge and be good citizens of the world.
