Biography
My name is Dr. Chad Yates. I joined the ISU Department of Counseling in the fall of 2013. I received my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Kent State University and my M.A. in Community Counseling from the University of Toledo. Before coming to ISU I worked as a mental health and substance abuse counselor in Kent, Ohio. I also was a part-time instructor at Kent State University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Youngstown State University.
Research Interest
My research interests include evidence-based practice in counseling, client-focused outcome evaluation, and the treatment of individuals with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. My work in evidence-based practice and client-focused outcome evaluation involves the study of how mental health professionals can track the effectiveness of interventions. My goal in this area of study is to learn how to make client-focused outcome evaluation a valuable clinical and training tool.
