Biography
Before coming to ISU I completed my Ph.D. in Philosophy and Classics at Yale University and was a visiting scholar at NYU.
Research Interest
My current research focuses on a method that Plato develops for addressing these questions, a method I call 'exploring both sides'. I'm interested not only in how Plato articulated methods like this one to address specific philosophical problems, but also how later thinkers have reacted to and incorporated his methodological insights. My specialty is in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy and philosophical methodology, though my research and teaching interests span more broadly as well. In my classroom students put historical texts in conversation with modern ethical and epistemological problems to illuminate ways in which philosophy can be both relevant and timely.
