Biography

Dr. Tawana K. Ware is a native of Greenville, MS who grew up from Georgia to Germany as a military dependent. She joined the Pediatric Dentistry Department in August of 2014. She earned a BA in Biology from Agnes Scott College (1996). She continued her professional education gaining the DDS degree from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry (2002). Dr. Ware is an Indiana University Alumna, receiving both her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry (2004) and MSD in Dentistry (2008). Dr. Ware worked in public health and private practice for over eight years before becoming an assistant professor at Meharry Medical College in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry in late 2011. She is active in several dental professional associations including: Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Education Association, and the American Association of Women Dentists. Her funded research includes: Enhancement of Perinatal Oral Health through Educating Obstetricians and Gynecologists (co-principal investigator, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation) and The Cariogenic Potential of Toddler Formulas: Protein Content and Sweeteners (Master’s Thesis funded by Delta Dental Grant for Student Research)
