Biography
Dr. Ruiz is responsible for Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations and Pharmacovogilance at InfaCare. She is a recognized physician and scientist with more than 17 years of experience in world-wide Phase I-IV adult and pediatric pharmaceutical development. Prior to joining the Company, Dr. Ruiz was Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer at Meda Pharmaceuticals; Senior Vice President of Research, Development & Regulatory Affairs at Optimer Pharmaceuticals ; and Vice President of Infectious Disease Programs at Merck. She also held a number of senior medical and scientific positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb. Dr. Ruiz earned an MS degree from Rutgers University and her MD degree from Ponce School of Medicine, Puerto Rico. She also completed internship and residency programs at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia. She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the Infectious Disease Society of America. Dr. Ruiz has served on numerous medical boards and committees, including on the Medical & Executive Committee of the American Heart Association, and as Chair of several World AIDS Day committees.
