Biography
David Marelius was born and raised in San Diego. He attended SDSU and received his BS in Chemistry in 2009. He went on to work on his PhD in the joint doctoral program with SDSU and UCSD, where he used organic and organometallic synthesis to make catalysts for water splitting, the conversion of water into oxygen and hydrogen for energy storage. He received the IPMI Richard Rubin Memorial Scholarship Award in 2014 which recognizes achievement in precious metals research by a graduate student. In 2015 David defended his thesis entitled “Studies on Bis Protic N-Heterocylic Carbene Pincer Complexes and on Water Oxidation Catalysts”
