Vijay Anand

Biography

Mr. Vijay Anand has been Senior Vice President of India Development Center at Intuit Inc. since November 2008. Mr. Anand joined Intuit as Vice President and Managing Director of Intuit's India Development Center (IDC) in Bangalore, India in 2008. In his 7 year tenure, Mr. Anand has grown Intuit's IDC from its early state to a 1000 person strategic center. Five years ago, Mr. Anand helped launch Intuit's Global Engineering Principles that have made Intuit a role model in the industry in terms of how to create winning globally distributed teams. Prior to Intuit, Mr. Anand was a Leader in the enterprise software industry having built and led successful product development centers for Oracle and Sun Microsystems in India. At Oracle, Mr. Anand led the Server Technologies team in India delivering key parts of the Oracle Fusion Middleware stack. At Sun, Mr. Anand helped build and grow one of India's best technology centers delivering key outcomes across the entire Sun product portfolio including Java, Solaris, Storage and Servers. Mr. Anand is a Technology Executive with over 25 years of experience including general management of large sized organizations, product engineering, business operations and strategy. Prior to his move to India, Mr. Anand was based in the US for over 14 years that included engineering leadership roles for the e-commerce product line at iPlanet, a Sun Netscape alliance, Architect for NetDynamics, an industry leading Java application server product that was acquired by Sun Microsystems in 1998 for $180 Million and earlier as a Technical Leader at IBM developing components that are the underpinnings of the industry leading Websphere Application Server. Mr. Anand serves as the Chair for the Anita Borg Institute (ABI) India Council to promote Women in Technology in India. Mr. Anand serves as a Director of Amigobulls Inc. He serves as a Member of the ABI's US Board of Trustees. Mr. Anand is actively involved in India's start-up community, mentoring and investing in promising entrepreneurs who solve important problems here in India and around the world. He is a member of several industry and technical organizations including TiE and NASSCOM here in India and the Association of Computing Machinery in the US. He is a regular featured speaker at conferences here in India including developer events such as Oracle Open World and the Sun Microsystems Tech Days events in India. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board of Elastic Beam, Inc. For his work, Mr. Anand has been recognized both within the Intuit and outside through a number of awards and leadership invitations. He received the Champion award from Out and Equal at their annual conference in San Francisco in 2014 for his work in promoting equality at the workplace, especially for the LGBT community. Mr. Anand holds a Masters degree from the University of Arizona in Computer Science and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.
