Ashutosh Sharma

Biography

Ashutosh Sharma, PhD, is Chief Scientific Officer and Vice President at Jeiven Pharmaceutical Consulting Inc. (JPC). At JPC, Dr. Sharma provides strategic vision to the development of client projects in the areas of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, combination drug/devices, in-vitro diagnostics, drug delivery, and iontophoretic products.  Prior to JPC, Dr. Sharma was Chief Strategic Officer at Vyteris, Inc. a specialty pharmaceutical company, where his efforts were focused on promoting Vyteris’ Smart Patch technology, and identifying licensing and development opportunities for the technology. He also led the development of Vyteris’ active transdermal drug delivery systems based on the company’s patented platform technology which resulted in approval of first-ever active patch combination drug/device product by the FDA.  Prior to joining Vyteris, Dr. Sharma worked at Becton Dickinson (BD) during which time he held positions as Program Manager for integrated drug delivery and diagnostic system and Manager, Intelligent Systems Development for BD's Consumer Healthcare Business. Dr. Sharma is a member of the Institutional Review Boards at the Kessler Foundation, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and the New York Blood Center. Dr. Sharma is also a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. Dr. Sharma holds a B. Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India. He is also a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute holding M.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Computer & Systems Engineering and a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering.
