Biography
Michael J. Matera is Senior Vice President, International Finance, a position he has held since April 2015. He is responsible for providing strategic business leadership for all financing activities and operations at John Deere Financial (JDF) in Regions 1, 2, and 3. Matera joined the company in 2008 as Vice President & Finance Director for JDF. In May 2009, he was promoted to Senior Vice President and Finance Director at JDF. In August 2011, he moved to Germany, where he assumed the responsibilities of Finance Director for the Ag & Turf Division for Regions 2 and 3 and for the Crop Harvesting, Crop Care, and Hay & Forage platforms, and later for Regions 1 and 2 and for the Tractor platform. Immediately prior to his current position, Matera was Director of Finance Planning, Accounting, and Finance at Deere & Company. Before coming to John Deere, Matera worked for Wells Fargo Financial, where he held positions of increasing responsibility, including Senior Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis and Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, he spent seven years as an audit manager with Deloitte & Touche. Matera graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in accounting and is a certified public accountant. John Deere Financial is one of the largest providers of financial services to agricultural and construction customers, supporting John Deere around the world with more than 1.7 million accounts and a managed worldwide portfolio of nearly $37 billion. In addition to providing receivables and equipment financing to help facilitate the sale of John Deere agricultural, construction, forestry, turf, and utility equipment, John Deere Financial offers revolving payment-based solutions and crop input financing. Today, John Deere Financial has approximately 2,200 employees worldwide and offers retail finance programs in more than 50 countries.
