Biography

 Dr. John Phillip Kostuik, M.D., FRCS(C) co-founded K2M, Inc. in 2004 and serves as its Chief Medical Officer and Chairman of the Board. Dr. Kostuik is a Co-Founder of K2M Group Holdings, Inc. and has been its Chief Medical Officer since January 2004. He has been Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, Chief Spine Division since 1991. He has medical expertise and industry knowledge. He served as Chief Scientific Officer at K2M, Inc. From 1991 to 2003, he served as the Chief of Spine Surgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He serves as Chairman of K2M, Inc. He served as the Chairman of Board of Directors at K2M Group Holdings, Inc. from 2004 to 2009. He served as Head of Board of Scientific Advisors at K2M, Inc. He has been a Director of K2M Group Holdings, Inc. since January 2004. He serves as a Director and Member of Board of Scientific Advisors at K2M, Inc. He served as a Director of Osteotech, Inc., from June 1997 to June 2005. He was the President of the Scoliosis Research Society and the North American Spine Society, which he founded. Dr. Kostuik was an Original Member/Organizer of the North American Spine Society. He has been a Professor at Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, Chief Spine Division since 1991. He is the Key Note Speaker at almost every major spine society in the world and has trained over 150 international spine fellows of which an estimated 145 are in active practice. He has authored numerous papers ranging from the basic sciences of spinal pathologies to analysis and comparisons of advanced spinal technologies and patient treatments. Dr. Kostuik has published more than 150 scientific articles, lectured in 38 countries and taught 150 fellows from 10 countries. He has leadership and reputation within the global spine surgery community. He is generally recognized as a Leading Teacher, Surgeon and Authority on spinal disorders. Dr. Kostuik was a recognized leader in orthopedic surgery for over 40 years. He was an Academic Surgeon. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Belgium and Japanese Orthopaedic Societies. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in Orthopedics. He completed Post-Graduate Surgical Training at the University of Toronto. He holds B.A. and M.D. degrees from Queens University, graduating in 1961.
