Matthew Kaplan

Biography

Mr. Matthew Kaplan, also known as Matt, has been the President of KapStone Paper and Packaging Corporation since April 15, 2005 and has been its Chief Executive Officer since January 01, 2017. Mr. Kaplan served as Chief Operating Officer of KapStone Paper and Packaging Corporation from 2005 to January 01, 2017. Mr. Kaplan served as the Interim Chairman and Interim Chief Executive Officer of KapStone Paper and Packaging Corporation since August 2015 until October 22, 2015. He was a Manager of Stone-Kaplan Investments, LLC since July 2004. He served as a Secretary of KapStone Paper and Packaging Corporation since April 15, 2005. He served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Box USA Holdings, Inc. from July 2000 to July 2004. He began his career at Stone Container Corporation in 1979 and served as its Senior Vice President and General Manager of North American Operations. He served as Vice President and General Manager of Container Division at Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation until March 1999. He has been a Director of KapStone Paper and Packaging Corporation since April 15, 2005 and American Forest & Paper Association Inc. since February 2011. He served as a Trustee of Magnetar Spectrum Fund since 2007. He served as a Director at Box USA Holdings, Inc., from July 2000 to July 2004. Mr. Kaplan received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
