Joseph P. Lacher Jr.

Biography

 Joseph P. Lacher, Jr., has been the Chief Executive Officer and President at Kemper Corporation since November 2015. Mr. Lacher served as the President of Allstate Protection Company until July 17, 2011 and also served as an Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President at Allstate Insurance Company (Allstate Insurance Company), a subsidiary of The Allstate Corporation. He was responsible for all of Allstate's property-casualty insurance operations. He was focused on leading Allstate to continuously improve results in key areas such as customer satisfaction and profitable market share growth and served on Allstate's Senior Management Team. He served as an Executive Vice President of Personal Insurance Segment and Select Accounts of The Travelers Companies, Inc. (formerly, The St. Paul Companies, Inc. and St. Paul Travelers Companies Inc.) from January 2005 to July 2009. He served as Executive Vice President of Personal Lines at Travelers Insurance Group Holdings, Inc. Mr. Lacher served as the Chief Executive Officer of Personal Insurance for The Travelers Companies, Inc. from January 2002 to January 2005, Chief Executive Officer of Personal Lines until July 2009 and also served as its Executive Vice President. He served as Senior Vice President of Product and Actuarial for Personal Lines since April 2001. Before that, Mr. Lacher served as Senior Vice President of Product & Actuarial for TPCs Personal Insurance Operations since April 2001. Prior to this, he served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Distribution for Personal Lines at Travelers from April 1999 to April 2001. From April 1996 to April 1999, he served as the Chief Financial Officer for Select Accounts at Travelers. Mr. Lacher served as Executive Vice President of Select Accounts. has held other executive and management positions with Travelers Property Casualty Corp. for several years and served with it since 1991. During his tenure at Travelers, Mr. Lacher served as Senior Vice President of Pricing, Product and Underwriting for Personal Lines. He has been a Director of Kemper Corporation since November 2015. He served as a Director of Travelers Insurance Group Holdings, Inc. He received his BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
