Biography
BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Dr. Ward received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology/Argosy University Atlanta in 2007. She completed her internship and two years of post-doctoral fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in pediatric psychology. Following her fellowship in 2009, Dr. Ward obtained a position at the Kennedy Krieger Institute where she provides training and supervision to pre-doctoral interns and post-doctoral fellows in pediatric psychology. RESEARCH SUMMARY: Dr. Ward's research interests focus on the development and evaluation of interventions to promote child coping and adjustment to acute and chronic medical conditions and associated medical treatments. She has a special interest in pediatric psychology and applied behavior analysis. Her research interests include acute and chronic pain management, behavioral rehabilitation of youth with functional disability and coping and adjustment of children and adolescents with cystic fibrosis. Dr. Ward has participated in a grant-funded study that examines the benefit of a systematic, collaborative nutrition education and behavioral parent training intervention in the pediatric cystic fibrosis clinic. She is currently the principal investigator of a study looking at functional outcomes of the pediatric pain rehabilitation program at KKI.
