Doug North

Biography

Doug North established Surgical Specialties in 2006 and is the major shareholder and Director of the company. With 30 years experience in the medical device industry, Doug held a number of management roles in Stryker (formerly Howmedica) and was the exclusive distribution agent for Smith & Nephew NSW/ACT from 2000-2005. Through Doug’s broad range of experiences, he has developed Surgical Specialties into one of Australia’s leading independent medical device distributors. Doug sits on the Board of Directors of Surgical Specialties and is a former member of the Medical Technology Association of Australia Board of Directors. As Director of Surgical Specialties, Doug is primarily responsible for the company’s strategic growth. This includes the identification of new suppliers, managing the product pipeline, along with maintaining key supplier relationships. Doug also dedicates considerable time to working with key customers and sales staff in the field to maintain his excellent understanding of the needs of healthcare professionals.
