Biography

 Dr. Raymond C. Kurzweil, also known as Ray, Ph.D., serves as the Co-Founder of Kurzweil Music Systems, Inc. also serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kurzweil Technologies, Inc. Dr. Kurzweil serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kurzweil Educational Systems, Inc. since 1996. He is the Founder of FatKat, Inc. and Singularity University. He is Chancellor of Singularity University. He is the Founder of Kurzweil Applied Intelligence, Inc., (“KAI”) and served as its Chief Technology Officer of KAI from its inception in 1982 to 1997 and also served as its Consultant. From 1982 to 1995, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of KAI. Dr. Kurzweil served as the Chief Executive Officer of KAI from 1982 to 1991 and as a Co-Chief Executive Officer from 1991 to November 1994. He serves as a Director of Medical Learning Co. Inc. and Kurzweil Educational Systems Inc. He has been an Independent Director at United Therapeutics Corporation since January 3, 2002. He serves as a Director of Singularity University. He serves on the Member of Advisory Board of Biophan Technologies, Inc., Jerusalem Global Ventures, Jerusalem Global Ventures and Jerusalem Global Ventures I. He serves as a Trustee of Massachusetts Software & Internet Council. He serves as Director of Zyvex Corporation, Seegrid Corporation, XPRIZE Foundation, Inc., Lifef/x, Inc. and The International Engineering Consortium. Dr. Kurzweil served as a Director at Kurzweil Applied Intelligence Inc. since its inception in 1982. He served as a Director at Inforte Corp. since February 2000. He served as Member of Scientific Advisory Board of NaturalNano, Inc. Dr. Kurzweil served as a Director of Medical Manager Corporation since April 1997. He served as a Director at Wang Global, Inc. since October 1993 and also served as the Chairman of its Strategy and Technology Committee. Dr. Kurzweil’s numerous awards include the 1999 National Medal of Technology, the nation's highest honor in technology, received from President Clinton and the $500,000 MIT-Lemelson Prize for Invention in 2001. His book, The Age of Intelligent Machines, was named Best Computer Science Book of 1990. His recent best-selling book, The Age of Spiritual Machines, When Computers Exceed Human Intelligence achieved #1 status on Amazon in science as well as in artificial intelligence. Dr. Kurzweil holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science and Literature from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1970 and has been awarded nine Honorary Doctorates.
