Raymond D. Seifert

Biography

Dr. Seifert is a native of Western Pennsylvania, having earned degrees in chemistry and education at Washington and Jefferson College. For nearly 15 years, he was on the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School of Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. Being the second D.O. to ever be on staff at Presbyterian University Hospital, Dr. Seifert is passionate about teaching and illustrating the differences a D.O. can make to his students. He has been retired from anesthesiology since 2003. Beginning in the summer of 2004, Dr. Seifert started teaching in the Department of Osteopathic Practices and Principles and Family Medicine at the Erie and Seton Hill campuses of LECOM. Dr. Seifert is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Seifert's unique position as a D.O. in a pain management practice allows him to illustrate how effective osteopathic manipulative medicine was in his patient population. While at the University of Pittsburgh, he sat on the resident selection committee and added insight to the residency application process to his students. As faculty advisor to the Radiology Club, Dr. Seifert assists his wife, Carol Seifert, M.D., with an Introduction to Radiology Lecture for first- and second-year students.
