Biography
Mr. John D. Gerace serves as Head of Applied Sciences at Life Technologies Corporation. Mr. Gerace leads Life Technologies Corporation's Human Identification (forensics), Food Safety, Animal Health and other industrial testing businesses. Previously, Mr. Gerace served as Vice President and General Manager of Life Technologies Corporation's PCR Systems business unit. He served several sales, marketing and corporate business development leadership roles at Beckman Coulter from 1993 to 2007. He also served as President and General Manager of a joint venture between Beckman Coulter and Affymetrix. From 1985 to 1993, Mr. Gerace conducted biomedical research associated with ophthalmic medical devices within the University of California, Irvine’s Department of Ophthalmology, and then as a research chemist at Allergan Medical Optics, where he was principle inventor on four U.S. patents. He is a board member for the Iacocca Family Foundation, a non-profit organization with the objective of accelerating the discovery of a cure for Type-1 Diabetes. He also serves on the advisory council for Keck Graduate Institute. He received his bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and biological sciences from U.C. Irvine and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
