Biography
Maurice Nahabedian, MD is currently a Professor of Plastic Surgery at Georgetown University in Washington DC (full time). He is currently the Vice Chairman of Academic Affairs in the Department of Plastic Surgery and also Chief of the Division of Reconstructive Microsurgery at Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Nahabedian completed his General Surgery residency at the University of California Irvine and his Plastic Surgery residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was on the faculty at Johns Hopkins from 1996 – 2005 before joining the faculty at Georgetown University. His primary areas of interest include breast and abdominal wall reconstruction. He has performed over 1,200 breast reconstructions using flaps, over 600 reconstructions using prosthetic devices and over 150 abdominal wall reconstructions. He is the chairman of the three national conferences that include the Santa Fe Breast and Body Contouring Symposium, Challenging Complications in Plastic Surgery: Successful Management Strategies Symposium, and the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Symposium. He has published over 130 scientific manuscripts, editorials, and discussions, 43 book chapters, and been the principal or co-editor of 5 textbooks. Dr. Nahabedian is also the Breast Section Editor for the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and serves on the editorial boards of 3 other plastic surgery journals.
