Biography
Dr. Connye Kuratko holds MS and PhD degrees from Texas Tech University with major study in Human Nutrition. She is also a Registered Dietitian with an undergraduate degree in nutrition and dietetics. Her early professional experience included both clinical dietetics and the management of public health programs in Texas. She served eight years as Assistant and Associate Professor of Pathology at Texas Tech School of Medicine in Lubbock, TX where she taught medical students and allied health students topics in nutrition, pathology, and disease prevention. The primary focus of her research included fatty acid modulation of colon carcinogenesis and gut immunology. Others areas of research included medical curriculum design and evaluation, as well as evaluation of public health programs. More recently, Dr. Kuratko was Principal Scientist and Senior Manager of Medical Affairs with Martek Biosciences, Inc. (a producer and marketer of algal-derived fatty acids in Columbia, MD). She currently maintains an independent consulting practice which includes college teaching and nutrition research support for food companies and trade organizations.
