Biography
Dr. Norman W. Kettner is Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiology. He has served on the faculty since 1980. Dr. Kettner holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Doctor of Chiropractic from Logan. He obtained Radiology Residency training at the Logan Health Centers and in 1984 became a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic College of Radiology. Dr. Kettner was elected President of the American Chiropractic College of Radiology in 1991. In 1992, he was elected Fellow of the International College of Chiropractic. He is the author of numerous publications in the field of chiropractic radiology and functional neuroimaging. He has served as reviewer for the NIH/NCCAM and for the Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Journal of the American Chiropractic Association, and Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. He has provided lectures on Complementary and Alternative Health Care to audiences including Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Washington University School of Medicine and Walter Reed Army Hospital. His research interests are the use of fMRI to explore the neural mechanisms underlying acupuncture techniques. To carry out this work, Dr. Kettner developed a research collaboration with the Athinoula A Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging of Massachusetts General Hospital, the main teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Kettner is a member of the American Chiropractic Association, Missouri State Chiropractic Association and the American Chiropractic College of Radiology. He was awarded instructor of the year at Logan in 1984 and 1988. Dr. Kettner received the Distinguished Service Award for the Clinical Science division at Logan in 1986, 1988, and 1989. In 2001, Dr. Kettner received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Education. In 2002, he was the recipient of the Logan Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award. In 2005, he was named Academician of the Year and in 2008, Researcher of the Year Award by the American Chiropractic Association.
