Biography

Dr. Khorram's laboratory focuses on two areas of investigation: 1) Fetal programming of adult diseases. and 2) The role of miRNAS in the pathogenesis of uterine leiomyomas and novel medical therapies that target miRNA expression. For the past few years Dr. Khorram has investigated the mechanism by which an adverse uterine environment leads to offspring vascular remodeling and stiffness which contributes to development of hypertension in adult life. His lab has characterized the extensive vascular remodeling and showed the role of micro RNAs as novel epigenetic mechanism for programming. Ongoing studies are focused on the role of miRNA29c in regulating fetal vascular composition.

Research Interest
