Biography
Derald J Holtkamp is an Associate Professor of Vet Diagnostic & Production Animal Medicine in Lowa State University.
Research Interest
Dr. Holtkamp’s research focuses on biosecurity as well as the economics and risk management of swine disease with an emphasis on PRRSV and PEDV. He conducts outbreak investigations for PEDV and PRRSV and is developing standard procedures for conducting and reporting on outbreak investigations. He is directing the Production Animal Disease Risk Assessment Program (PADRAP) at Iowa State University focusing on development, management and promotion of disease risk assessment tools and databases of completed risk assessments held by the American Association of Swine Veterinarians.
