Biography
Janette R Thompson is Morrill Professor of Natural Resource Ecology and Management. She completed her B.S. Forestry with emphasis in forest soils, Michigan Technological University, 1981 and M.S. Agronomy with emphasis in soil morphology and genesis, Iowa State University, 1984, and Ph.D. Forestry with emphasis in Biology, Iowa State University, 1991.
Research Interest
Her research integrates the social and biophysical dynamics of land use in urban landscapes, ecology and restoration of remnant forest landscapes in both urban and rural settings, and formulation of targeted stewardship practices for water quality protection applicable to urban environments. A new area of my research focuses on planning for conservation of biological diversity in rapidly growing urban regions. She also active in conducting research on teaching and learning in college classrooms, focusing on cooperative and collaborative learning and leadership development for students.
