Biography

Mike Bennett is the Director of the Engineering Division, overseeing all engineering activities for Lumos & Associates. Mike has been around since the inception of Lumos & Associates, not as a principal or an associate. He was a kid growing up in Carson City, when Paul Lumos built one of the first new office buildings to house the young engineering firm. Seven years later, Mike went to work at Lumos after graduating from Carson High School. "Working at Lumos has allowed me to be a part of some very special projects," Mike said. The Silverland Schools Complex for the Lyon County School District is one of his largest projects to date and includes the completed middle school campus plus a site for a new elementary school. Mike helped rebuild the Eureka Airport in 21 days in 2012. The schedule was so tight because the airport serves Med Flight aircraft and supports air operations for fighting nearby wildland fires. Everyone on this project understood the need and worked with purpose to get the project done on time," he explained. "The Mitch Pond in Gardnerville Ranchos is also one of my favorites. This project created an urban fishery that enjoys constant use by the residents of Carson Valley" Mike is the current Principal-in-Charge and Project Manager on the Downtown Carson Streetscape Project, creating a multimodal corridor with efficient traffic flow, safe bike lanes and pedestrian access, for the economic vitality and revitalization of downtown Carson City.
