Biography
Dr. Lewis is the Medical Director of Machaon Diagnostics. Dr. Lewis is an expert in benign hematology with a focus on thrombosis and hemostasis. He regularly lectures around the US and internationally on the clinical and laboratory approaches to diagnosing atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (aHUS) and Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH). He is a practicing hematologist and directs the hematology department at San Francisco General, a UCSF medical center affiliate. Dr. Lewis has provided clinical consultation on the majority of the greater than 300 suspected cases of aHUS sent to Machaon Diagnostics for complement and coagulation gene sequencing. He has built a unique-to-Machaon, expertise in the use of genetic sequencing data in the acute clinical setting when diagnosis has yet to be established.
