Biography
Ms. Helen Darling served as Senior Adviser of National Business Group On Health from May 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014. Ms. Darling served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of National Business Group On Health until April 30, 2014. She has an unmatched reputation and long history of promoting better and more affordable health care for Americans and their employers. Ms. Darling, who has spent her career working to find practical solutions to address the mounting obstacles to affordable care, was named one of the “most powerful People in Healthcare” in the U.S. by Modern Healthcare five consecutive years from 2003 to 2007. For the past two decades, she has held various positions, including President and Chief Executive Officer with NBGH. Previously in her career, she directed the purchasing of health and disability benefits at Xerox Corporation for 55,000 U.S. employees. She also served as a Principal at William W. Mercer and a Practice Leader at Watson Wyatt. She has been a Director of Teladoc, Inc. since June 27, 2016. She also served as a Director of National Business Group On Health. She served as a Member of Advisory Board at Castlight Health, Inc. since July 6, 2011. She serves on the Committee on Performance Measurement of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), the Medical Advisory Panel of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s Technology Evaluation Center (now the Center for Clinical Effectiveness), the Advisory Board for the Peter G. Peterson Foundation and the Board of the Reagan Udall Foundation for the FDA. In 2009, she was the recipient of WorldatWork's Keystone Award, its highest honor in recognition of sustained contributions to the field of human resources and benefits. A year later she received the President's Award by the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. She was given a lifetime appointment in 2003 as a national associate of the National Academy of Sciences for her work for the Institute of Medicine. Ms. Darling holds a Master's Degree in Demography and Sociology and a Bachelor's of Science Degree in History and English, cum laude, from the University of Memphis.
