Biography

Chad Dorgan directs McCarthy’s quality, sustainability and virtual design & construction programs nationwide. Since joining McCarthy in 2005, Chad has been instrumental in formalizing the company’s innovative Quality Without Question program, focused on consistently constructing the best buildings in America. This effort includes the integration of virtual design & construction into our core company procedures. As a LEED AP BD+C, Chad also serves as the chairperson of McCarthy’s Green Steering Committee, overseeing the development and implementation of all green policies, procedures and training. During Chad’s 20-plus-year career in the engineering, consulting and construction industries, he spent four of these as a mechanical engineer in the US Air Force and the next 12 as president of Dorgan Associates, a consulting firm focused on the transfer of technology from research to application, and the development and implementation of the commissioning process for governments, institutions and corporations. This effort included authoring ten books, dozens of papers, and being a leader in establishing the commissioning prerequisite and credit in the USGBC LEED rating systems. Chad is Fellow member with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), winning a variety of awards including the ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award and the Building Commissioning Association Benner Award for the best-of-the-best in making commissioning “business as usual” in the entire industry. He is also a member of the American Society for Quality, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, Society of American Military Engineers and the Construction Specifications Institute.
