Biography
Dr. Freeman A. Hrabowski III, Ph.D., has been the President at the University of Maryland Baltimore County since 1992 and previously served as an Interim President from 1992 to 1993, Executive Vice President from 1990 to 1993 and Vice President since 1987. Dr. Hrabowski also serves as a Consultant at the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the National Academy of Sciences and the U.S. Department of Education. He has been an Independent Director of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc., since January 3, 2013. Dr. Hrabowski has been a Director of McCormick & Co. Inc., since 1997 and Baltimore Equitable Society. He also serves as the Chairman of President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for African Americans. Dr. Hrabowski serves as a Member of the Board of Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Urban Institute, the Marguerite Casey Foundation, France-Merrick Foundation, Baltimore Community Foundation, Merrick & France Foundations, the Maryland Technology Council and the University of Maryland Medical System. Previously, he served as a Director of Constellation Energy Group Inc from April 1999 to March 14, 2012. Dr. Hrabowski also served as an Independent Director of Mercantile Bankshares Corp., since 1996. He served as a Director of Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust Company since 1996. Prior to this, Dr. Hrabowski served as a Director of Baltimore Gas & Electric Company from 1994 to April 1999. He served as a Director of Broadwing Corporation from October 2002 to April 1, 2006. Previously, Dr. Hrabowski served as a Director of UNC, Inc. since April 1996. He was named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME magazine. Dr. Hrabowski received a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and Statistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an M.A. in Mathematics from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a B.A. in Mathematics from Hampton Institute.
