Biography

Sergey joined McKinsey in 2006. He serves clients in the chemical, metallurgical, and mining industries across different geographies, with particular focus on optimization of capital investment, project delivery, and operational transformation of production facilities. Sergey is a member of the Capital Projects & Infrastructure and Metals & Mining Practices, and leads the Value Improvement service line in Russia and the CIS. Examples of recent projects: Identified levers to reduce CAPEX by more than 15% from already challenging project baseline, keeping targeted level of mining and beneficiation Helped a fertilizer producer to optimize its portfolio of small and medium-sized capital projects, significantly reducing Small CAPEX budget, while sustaining target reliability level Worked with a major metallurgical producer to prioritize and manage more than 30 expansion and stay in business projects, including the development of a detailed optimization methodology that the client still uses to manage its capital portfolio Worked with a major oil refinery to improve its budgeting and investment processes and decision-making approach, including the selection of projects to pursue at different stages, from basic design development to construction and ramp up
