Biography

 Bryan C. Hanson is the Executive Vice President and President of Medtronic’s Minimally Invasive Therapies Group and serves as a member of the Company’s Executive Committee. In this position, Bryan oversees and provides strategic direction to this approximately $10 billion business. With more than 20 years in the medical device industry, Bryan has a proven track record of growing, transforming and leading global businesses that partner with customers to innovate solutions that solve complex patient problems. As a result, his team develops solutions to help healthcare providers do their life saving work; helping patients live longer and suffer less, while delivering quality care to more people around the globe at an affordable cost. In 2015, Bryan was named to his current role following the acquisition of Covidien by Medtronic, following a series of roles of increasing responsibility at Covidien. In 2014, Bryan was named to the newly created position of Group President, Covidien which added Medical Supplies, Emerging Markets and Developed Markets to his areas of responsibility. In 2013, he became Group President of Covidien's Medical Devices business. In 2011, as Surgical Solutions Group President, Bryan transformed two of Covidien’s largest divisions—Energy-based Devices and Surgical Devices—into one, global business unit. Prior to leading Covidien’s Surgical Solutions Group, Bryan’s experiences include serving as President of Covidien’s Energy-based Devices business, President of Covidien’s Patient Care Division, Vice President of International Marketing, and Vice President/General Manager of the Vascular Therapies Division. As a part of his role as a member of the Executive Leadership of Medtronic, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Medtronic Foundation. Bryan also serves on the board of AmeriCares, an emergency response and global health organization committed to saving lives and building healthier futures for people in crisis. He is devoted to his family and dedicated to the needs of underprivileged children. Involved in the Fresh Air Fund, Bryan and his family have participated in their Volunteer Host Family Program, hosting children from low-income communities for the summer, over the past eight years. Bryan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Florida State University. He also completed the Kellogg School of Management Finance for Executives program in 2010 and the Harvard Executive Education in Leadership program in 2013.
