Biography
Shavonne has had extensive training as a Certified Peer Support Specialist and in Counseling, both one on one and in group settings. She also has experience dealing with co-occurring disorders. Prior to becoming a member of the Mental Health America team, serving as a Life Coach and Life Coach Trainer, she worked as a Resident Service Specialist in the Kennedy Shelter in Fairfax County for 5 years. Additionally, Shavonne worked as a Direct Support Professional in a Community Residential Group Home for individuals with severe intellectual and physical disabilities. She founded a Depression Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) group in Alexandria and has been dedicated to co-facilitating the group since it began. She takes a personal and individualized approach to peer support. Shavonne takes pride in having the Spirit to hold the space for others to discover and show their greatness.
