Biography
Dr. Udit Batra, PhD, has been Chief Executive Officer of Life Sciences at Merck KGaA since 2014. Dr. Batra has been a Member of Executive Board at Merck KGaA since April 30, 2016. He serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President at EMD Millipore Corporation. Dr. Batra is responsible for the strategic direction and operation. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Consumer Health Division at Merck Serono S.A and at Merck KGaA. Dr. Batra served as the Head of Consumer Health at Merck KGaA. Dr. Batra served as Head of Consumer Health Care at Merck Serono S.A. He joined Merck from Novartis Vaccines & Diagnostics, where he served as Head of Global Public Health and Market Access, based in Boston. Prior to that, he served in a range of executive management positions including global head of corporate strategy at Novartis headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, as well as country president in Australia. He started his career as a Research Engineer at Merck & Co. in West Point, Pennsylvania. In 2001, he joined McKinsey where he worked across the healthcare, consumer and non-profit sectors as a senior engagement manager. In 2004, Dr. Batra served as Global Brand Director for the Wound Care Franchise at Johnson & Johnson, before joining Novartis in 2006. Dr. Batra has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University and a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering with distinction from University of Delaware.
