Biography

 Mr. Steven A. Kandarian, also known as Steve, J.D., has been the Chairman of the Board of MetLife, Inc. since January 1, 2012 and has been its Chief Executive Officer and President since May 1, 2011. Mr. Kandarian serves as the Chief Executive Officer, Chairman of the Board and President at New England Life Insurance Company. He has been the Chief Executive Officer and President at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company since May 1, 2011 and has been its Chairman since January 1, 2012. He founded Orion Partners, L.P. Mr. Kandarian served as an Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer at MetLife, Inc. from April 2005 to May 01, 2011. He joined MetLife on April 11, 2005. Mr. Kandarian served as Chief Investment Officer at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company since April 11, 2005, Executive Vice President since April 2005 and also served as its Head of the Investment Organization. He served as Managing Director of Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation from December 02, 2001 to February 21, 2004. He served as Managing Director of Orion Capital Holdings II, L.P. and Orion Capital Holdings, LP. Mr. Kandarian served as an Executive Vice President, Head of the Investment Organization and Chief Investment Officer of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Asset Management Arm. Mr. Kandarian served as Managing Director of Orion Partners, L.P. from 1993 to 2001. He served as the Managing Director of Lee Capital Holdings, LLC, where he completed 10 private equity transactions with an IRR of over 100%. Mr. Kandarian served as an Investment Banker at State Street Bank and Rotan Mosle. Mr. Kandarian served as Chairman of Reinsurance Group of America Inc since January 18, 2007. He has been a Director of MetLife, Inc. since April 26, 2011 and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company since 2008. He serves as a Director of Institute of International Finance, Inc. He serves as a Director of The Partnership for New York City, Inc. and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. He has been Trustee at Orion Partners, LP since 2002 and The DLB Fund Group since 2002. He served as Independent Trustee of Barings Participation Investors (formerly, Babson Capital Participation Investors and MassMutual Participation Investors) since 2002. He served as Director of Reinsurance Group of America Inc. from January 18, 2007 to September 2008 and served as its Presiding Director since February 2007. He served as an Executive Director of Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation from December 2, 2001 to February 21, 2004. He served as Trustee of Barings Corporate Investors (formerly, Babson Capital Corporate Investors and MassMutual Corporate Investors) since 2002. He served as a Member of the Board of Trustees of MassMutual Premier Funds. He received a B.A. in Economics from Clark University, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in Technologies and Uniform Information Services.
