Biography
As the Associate Dean of Innovation at the MIT School of Engineering, Vladimir Bulovic is a champion of ideas. He oversees a broad portfolio of MIT-wide efforts in support of the next generation of researchers, inventors, and entrepreneurs. Bulovic co-directs the MIT Innovation Initiative, an Institute-wide effort to accelerate the translation of ideas into impact. He is also the faculty lead on the design and construction of MIT.nano, a new 200,000-square-foot center for nanoscience and nanotechnology. As a professor of electrical engineering, Bulovic holds the Fariborz Maseeh Chair in Emerging Technology. He leads the Organic and Nanostructured Electronics laboratory, which he developed as an open nanotechnology facility. He also co-directs the MIT-ENI Solar Frontiers Center, the MIT Energy Initiative’s Low Carbon Energy Center on Solar technologies, and the GridEdge Solar project. Bulovic received his PhD from Princeton University. While there, his research led to the patents and technologies that contributed to the launch of the Universal Display Corporation and the Global Photonics Energy Corporation (presently named NanoFlex Power Corporation).
Research Interest
His research interests include the study of physical properties of organic and organic-inorganic nanocrystal composite thin films and structures and the development of novel nanostructured optoelectronic devices. He is the author of over 250 research articles, which have been cited over 20,000 times.
