Biography
Prior to joining MCI with appointments as an associate professor in both internal medicine and the physician assistant study program, Dr. Thomas W. Butler held assistant professorships with several prestigious teaching institutions, including Texas Tech University School of Medicine, East Carolina University School of Medicine, and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Strongly committed to helping patients cope with chronic disease, he says, “All cancer patients must be treated as unique individuals with personal needs, goals, and spiritual beliefs.” Dr. Butler’s clinical focus is on malignancies of the blood, chronic lymphomas, breast cancer, and head and neck cancers. He is currently a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians, and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society of Alabama.
