Biography
Mr. F. Samuel Eberts III has been the Chairman, President, and Secretary of Sequenom Inc. since September 07, 2016. Mr. Eberts has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of Monogram Biosciences, Inc. since August 4, 2009 and serves as its Secretary. He has been the Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Legal Officer, and Secretary at Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings since January 1, 2009. At the firm, he leads the company's Global Corporate Affairs group, with enterprise-wide responsibility for the legal, compliance, corporate secretary, shareholder services, public policy/government relations, communications, community affairs, privacy and security functions. He has been Senior Vice President of Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings since August 2004. He serves as the President and Secretary of Cellmark Forensics, Inc. Mr. Eberts served as the Chief Legal Officer and Senior Vice President of Cellmark Forensics, Inc. He served as General Counsel of Laboratory Corp. of America Holdings since August 2004 and served as its Assistant Secretary. He served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Stepan Company since March 7, 2001. Mr. Eberts served as Assistant General Counsel for Baxter International Inc. from 1992 to 1996. He served as Chief Counsel of the Biotech North America division of Baxter International Inc. He served as an Associate General Counsel for Allegiance Healthcare Corporation from 1996 to 1998. He served as an Assistant General Counsel for Cardinal Health Inc. from 1998 to 2001. He has more than 25 years of experience in private practice and as an international corporate executive. Mr. Eberts served as an adjunct associate professor at the University of Texas School of Public Health, Division of Management, Policy and Community Health. He has been a Director of Monogram Biosciences, Inc. since August 4, 2009. Mr. Eberts is the Chairman of Daerter Group. He is a Director of MedCap Growth Equity Funds. Mr. Eberts serves as a Director of Cellmark Forensics, Inc. He serves on the Council for Entrepreneurial Development. Mr. Eberts was appointed to the Health Care Policy Leadership Council at Harvard University's Kennedy School. He also serves on the Advisory Council for the Corporate Governance Forum at Harvard Law School. Mr. Eberts serves on the Wilson Council for the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars and the Advisory Board for the World Policy Institute in New York City. Mr. Eberts was elected to serve as chairman of Easter Seals/UCP of North Carolina and Virginia. He also serves on the Board of the Alamance Community College Foundation. Mr. Eberts was on the board of Alpha Marketing, Inc. He is a frequent speaker on healthcare reform, leadership and the legal profession including the Harvard Kennedy School, Duke University School of Law, Wake Forest University School of Law, Baylor University School of Medicine and the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Mr. Eberts is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago and the Boston University School of Law.
