Biography
Mara Rocchi graduated in 1990 from Milan Veterinary School in Italy and then obtained her PhD investigating the pathogenesis of experimental scrapie, also in Milan. Mara joined Moredun in 2000, after 4 years at the International Livestock Research Institute of Nairobi, Kenya, working on the immune responses to ruminant tropical protozoan diseases. Mara holds a long standing interest in the pathogenesis of, and the immune responses to, intracellular pathogens as well as the immunological consequences of infection during pregnancy. Mara is also the Manager of the Moredun flow cytometric unit and from 2007 has taken up the role of Biological Safety Advisor and is Associate Member of the Institute of Safety and Technology and Research.
