Biography
Prior to coming to MSU, Gonzalez worked as the assistant director of recreation and wellness at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center where she coordinated the fitness, wellness and rock climbing programs. She also worked for the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America as a certification specialist where she traveled throughout the country to instruct certification workshops in group exercise and personal training. She is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Dr. Gonzalez has several publications and has presented at both national and international conferences.
Research Interest
Dr. Gonzalez’s research interests include behavioral interventions to increase physical activity in community populations, understanding attitudes toward dietary supplement use, and how the worksite environment affects physical activity levels. Currently she is working with “Martin County on the Move”through several federally funded grants to increase physical activity and improve nutrition in middle schools and the greater community in Eastern Kentucky
