Biography
Jason Holcomb has been at MSU since 2000 and has taught a wide variety of classes since his arrival. He grew up on a farm in Iowa and earned his degrees at the University of Kansas and Kansas State University. His primary research interests include migration, land use, cultural geography, the Great Plains, and grassland environments. He recently spent a sabbatical ding an oral history project with custom wheat harvesters of the Great Plains, funded by grants from Morehead State and the Kansas Humanities Council. This involved travel to Minnesota, the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma to interview both current and retired custom harvesters. He is also researching international labor employed in custom harvesting and other American agribusinesses. He enjoys traveling anywhere, but typically heads west when the opportunity comes along
