Biography
Dr. Verdie Craig is an Associate Professor of Geography at MSU. A Kentucky native, she holds a B.A. in Education from the University of Kentucky, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Geography from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Her areas of expertise include rural and community development, social and environmental impacts of development policy, and participatory research for local empowerment. She has examined development and underdevelopment in both the United States (with a focus on tobacco agricultural transitions) and in Latin America (studying Latin American insurgent movements, especially in Mexico). She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in both physical and human geography.
