Biography
Director of Cancer Network Development, Brooklyn. Dr. Balan trained in Hematology and Oncology at New York University (class of 2002). Throughout his career he was medical director of hematology-oncology services in a variety of clinical settings-Veterans Administration, academic, and community-, having academic appointments with New York University, Dartmouth Medical School, and Mount Sinai/Icahn School of Medicine. At each of these institutions he has developed a long track record as clinician, educator, clinical researcher, and administrator. He developed multi-disciplinary clinics in gastro-intestinal malignancies, lung and breast cancers. For his distinguished career he was awarded the American Cancer Society's Lane Adams Quality of Life Award.
